Best videogame controller for pc?

Thinking about getting an account at gametap.com. What would be the best controller to play there with?

I like the wired xbox 360 controller because of the familiarity. If i had spare time I would use the wavebird controller (gamecube) and try to figure out how to get it working for pc (prob need to soder USB onto wire) because it's the most comfortable controller I've ever used. Gametap forums are probably where to look for answers mostly because compatibility issues are already answered there.
