I remember hearing as a kid how alot of blue collar types hated golf because you almost had to be a blue blood to be able to become good at it.That's why golfers like Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino were well liked because they were just the sons of lowly golf course maintenance guys where the kids could sneak in and practice. You have to admit, golf has an image problem with it being an overwhelming frat house boy sport.Lots of stuffed shirts.Who the hell would label their ki as being the 3rd with a last name like Howel? If he would have went to a hell hole private school he would have been beat up every day over his name.
And what about Bobby Jones where he frowned upon golfers becoming pros where they played for money.
