So, I swapped the hard drive out of a broken computer and put it into it into another computer because I needed a few of the files from that hard drive. The swap went smoothly. Started the other computer with the new hard drive, started and loaded fine, but everything was exactly the same as it was before. Is the problem putting a hard drive with a windows xp OS into a computer that only had windows 98 the problem? Or is the fact the computer I put the hard drive in being an old computer from 1998 the problem? Other? Can someone who knows about computer stuff help me out and fill me in on what I need to do now. I figured this would be as easy as swapping hard drives and then all the files from that hard drive would be right there for me.
