Winning 8-leg parlay and lost ticket in Vegas
Just got back from a long weekend in Vegas and had a funny/educational story some of you might enjoy - Flew down with my very gambling rookie nephew on Saturday. Sunday morning (obviously very hungover) we go make bets at about 9AM at the Bally's book.

I throw down a 4-leg for $50 to win $280 of AM games, my nephew throws down $40 to win $6600 for an 8-leg morning and afternoon games. So, we head out Sunday to check out some sights and watch games. About noon we're eating lunch downtown/Freemont Street and he realizes he doesn't have his ticket. Of course, I'm thinking it isn't going to matter but he's super stressed out - he even heads back to the last bar we were at and goes through the trash to look. Of course, he doesn't find it.

Anyhow..... FF a few hours and we're back at a room in a buddy's penthouse at the Bellagio and he's actually getting pretty close (somehow he's pretty sure he remembers all 8 bets). It comes down to him needing Bills +2.5. Of course the crazy catch happens and AZ scored to go up 2. Then, in a VERY fortunate turn of events they just sit on the ball without kicking the extra point and he wins by 1/2 point.... or so he thinks since w/o the ticket it's far from a sure thing. And, of course, he lost the ticket. So, there is that hurdle.

I do some basic net research and tell him he might be okay but needs to go to the book and file a "lost ticket" claim. I had no idea such thing existed. So, he heads over to Bally's. I stay behind and do all kinds of drinking and things. He's over there for over an hour trying to determine if he even won and if he did, is he SOL w/o a ticket.

It turns out he did remember correctly and won all 8 and is actually going to get the money. They cancelled the original ticket (thank god for technology) but he has to wait for 120 days and they'll send him the $6600. Honestly, it's probably good that he didn't get the cash since it would have gone to hookers and blow for sure.

So, after all this rambling I did learn a few things that you might want to do it you ever bet live at a book. Take a picture of the ticket so they can easily find it later. Also, use a player's club card and they can usually find it that way. My nephew did neither. Hence the 1 hour+ trying to find the ticket. It helped a lot that he remembered all 8 events and that he knew the exact time he made the bet based on my ticket so they could pull the camera footage. Honestly, the people at Bally's book were very helpful.

The weekend even had more good news - I won my 4-leg on the DET 59yd FG (although I would later find out that $300 was a kind of insignificant amount of money for us that day). And crazy enough, same nephew won 4K more on a Pai Gow progressive jackpot last night. Nothing like beginner's luck. I told him he probably had a better change of getting mauled by a bear and struck by lightning on the same day. His 8-leg was literally the second sports bet of his life!

            Lol

I did same at Golden Nugget during the SBR Bash for 12 G.

Yep it’s now a waiting game but they can lock it. It’s actually best to use your Sportsbook players card to assure these things or simply bet with the app.

            Nice score.

If you are already out and have a few winners this can save you some dough. You are much smarter when you pick it up the next morning from my experiences

i've lost a handful of winning tickets over time. the first time it happened i felt like the world was ending, i had the most hollow feeling in my stomach and was a wreck, think i might've cried a bit too

it didn't dawn on me until a few hrs later to go to the book (Caesar's Vegas) and try to beg them for help or something.. i thought i had no chance. manager simply asked if i could verify at what counter i placed it at and at what time.. he went in the back to check the tapes, verified it hadn't been cashed yet, asked for my mailing address, and i got a check a couple weeks later. was never so happy in my life when i got it

ever since then i never panicked much when i lost one, same process no matter the book

Another reason to use Players Csrd. I bet a lot of props before baseball and football season starts. I had bout 40 tix to turn in. I give them to the teller but our figures didn’t match. So I waited and went to another teller to say I’m missing a tix. I had them wrapped in a rubber band. He got my players card # and told me to check back the next day. They said they found tix but to this day I believe the teller dropped the tix on the floor on purpose. Now I only turn in 10 tix at time and have total I won on a small tablet.

Great story! Here's another that revolves around the Buff/AZ finish. A guy bet $2K on an 8-teamer at William Hill to win $94,000+. He hits the first 7 and only needs Buff ML at +125 to cash. Well, we all know what happened. If he had just taken the 2.5 pts with the Bills instead of the ML, he still would have cashed around $90K. Painful to say the least...

I was in DR a few years back, I bet the under on one of the NLCS games. I go out zip lining put the ticket in my shoe. I get back see a win and realize no ticket. Guy says you have to wait 48 hours, I tell him I leave in the morning. He talks to the manager tells him I’m a good guy and pays it. I guess I was the only bet for the amount I said that whole day so it was believable

I wanted to post a follow-up to this - my nephew FINALLY just received his $6600 from Caesars. Roughly 10 months after the day he won. He was talking to the Nevada Gaming Commission but hadn't actually filed anything so we doubt that is why they finally paid him. I have a theory that they like to fill people's pockets with money right as the season starts in hopes of getting it back.

I always use my players card. I made a bet at WestGate and used my players card. I realized I lost my tix and games were still going on and reported it to the sportsbook. I ended up winning and manager told me someone tried to cash my tix tight after the games was a winner. Always report missing tix right away. If I hadn’t did this someone else would of cashed my tix.

I think it happens to a lot of people.

I remember hearing of this on one of the betting podcasts I listen to and told my nephew about it. that play was crazy and I can't believe it gave my nephew the win (and the other guy the loss). I was sitting in a Bellagio penthouse suite when that play happened. My nephew was devastated but I quickly realized ARZ best bet was to just fall on the ball rather than risk a blocked/run back extra point. While I was happy it gave him the win (maybe) I was worried he wouldn't cash. Overall, that was one of the crazier days I can remember in NFL. Several other crazy betting things happened that day too.
