    Why Gamble Online?
My question is this. Why bet online when you can bet with local(s) and not have to worry about getting paid when winning.

The risk of depositing to and withdrawing from off-shore books seems like a tremendous risk at this time - with the new laws and DOJ enforcement.

It doesn't look like it is going to get any better in the near future and probably will be even tougher to bet off-shore in the coming year.

I was looking forward playing off-shore this football and BB season but realize the biggest gamble would not be on the games played but if I received payment for winning - if I won that is.

What a shame. If people want to bet then let them bet. I never hurt anybody with my betting and its fun - win or lose.

I'm sure most of these guys on the forums don't know any locals. Not to mention the fact that offshore odds are usually a whole lot better than most locals use even despite the style lines.

Now as far as the deposit and withdraw factors go. Well, some of the more top rated books actually have there act together in regards to these types of things nowadays.

I only bet online because it is easy for me and I play at top rated books. I would rather bet with a local bookie but I dunno of any in the area.

I know locals but I'll take my chances off shore. As far as getting paid once again I'll take my chances off shore.

Most Locals do not offer quarter lines.
Most Locals dont offer the exotic bets.
Off Shore if you dont have the money in your account you cant play it. With locals you can get in over your head quick.
Locals dont give me Tickets to the Super Bowl with a pocket full of cash Cris and SBR did.

Locals dont give me free plays every other day my online book does.
If I want a line on a game a 3:00 AM I can get it Online
        Most Locals you can't.
Locals move lines based on volume so if your from Alabama and you want to play Alabama in most cases you dont get a good line with the OS Books you do.
I've played it both ways and if the day comes where my only option is a Local I'll move to Nevada.
I play crazy parlays from time to time the ones that will pay off 40-50 K Not many locals can handle a hit like that. Many players here that are considered average players with their Off Shore Books would be considered Whales with a local.

As far as getting paid Dave if you stick to the good books and listen to the posters in this forum you will not have problems.

99.99 % of players problems revolve around bonus money.
I dont accept any money that requires a roll over or a hold. Since I started doing this me and the books get along much better. I get paid weekly by my book Last year I got paid twice a week but new laws have limited me to 1 payout a week. My payouts never take more than two days to recieve in most cases I get paid the same day I request it. If you stay with SBRs top rated books you will not have a problem. l

Betting with locals is the best way to end up in big trouble. 95% of the people posting on this board can not control their gambling. Online you can wind up broke you can't gamble what you don't have.

F!@# locals. It's easier to click my mouse 3 times. Takes less than a minute to place a wager. The less humans I have to deal with in the wagering process....the better. Never been stiffed online either son.

I know a guy who got in over his head with locals; let's say the kid was so desperate that he knocked on my family's home and asked my dad for money.

They beat the shit out of this kid until he started paying; he was betting with money he didn't have.

most of or all of what ACES said is true. i joined this site to get a feel for what off-shore books were good, i've joined quite a few, but have yet to deposit, i've just been playing free contests at them. i've went through quite a few locals in my area over the years. one guy i played with years ago was horrible, he only took pro football sides and in college football or basketball you could only play teams from one of the big conferences, he mainly was a horse guy, he was always trying to get me to play horses, that was his money maker. i've got a great dude now, hes an old country boy, hes actually about a hour away from me, but he'll meet me half way. he knows i'm on the internet, and he takes my word on lines, he'll let me play football(pro&college) basketball(pro&coll) baseball, hockey,WNBA,CFL,AFL, everthing is 10cent except baseball is 20cent, i can only parlay up to 4 teams, and i can't play qurters but i can play halves and totals, hes even let me play some UFC fights a few times, hes the best one i've ever found, hes just cool as shit. sometimes when i call him and give a game i'm playing(usually its just for a buck), he'll say somrthing like "i hope you hit that one,i got 2 dimes on it".

It's more convenient to view the lines and click on the mouse to bet. Besides, betting on credit can get you in a lot of trouble.

too much of a hassle with a local and not nearly the same options and conveneince although I've considered it...plus betting online is much more discreet and much less likely to get caught by family and friends.

Buddy Bear I think betting with a local is more discreet, way too easy to get nabbed on a pc unless you live alone. Someone in your home can track every where you go on a pc with software and you would not know.

How do you find them? Go in the sports bar and yell out "Hey is anyone in here a bookie"? LOL
Took me a while. Still looking for another.

I don't know any locals and I'm not sure I would bet with one if I did. Wagering online offers so many more options and is so much easier to place a wager.

You need to be a regular at a sports bar or racetrack bar to get a local or need a friend referral.

Locals are easy to find ----- and locals are hard to find.

In most major East Coast cities, it shoudn't take you too long. Desk clerks at hotels, bartenders, cab drivers, even the guys at the local barber shop will often give you a lead. On the other hand, some locals deal only with fish, and set their lines at -120 on all games. Screw that.

Also, they will often shade their lines, once they get your betting pattern. If you're in NY and ask the line on the Giants, if it is really 4 and they know you're a fan, you'll be dealt 4.5 or 5. Or, if they know you bet against the Giants, it'll be 3.5 or 3. Screw those games.

I don't know about the midwest, but it's harder to find a bookie on the West Coast. They're there, or course, esp in major met areas, you just have to be more diligent in looking for them

I prefer offshore, just wish like hell it was legal, safe and hassle-free. And so do the major players in Vegas! They're ready to roll -- if and when . . .

Good locals have online setups with the same bets and options as offshore. Its not like the old days.

Honestly, if you want to find a local, go play some poker at your local casino. I guarantee some of those people know bookies.
