They give up a 4th round pick for Campbell and then extend his contract????

i fail to see how drastiacally improving your qb positiont for a 4th round pick on 2012 is a dumb move.
campbell improves every year statistically.

This may be the best personnel move the Raiders have made in the last 3 years
-- you can take that as a vote of confidence for Campbell or an indictment of how much of a hack the Raiders have been the last few years.

If they cut Russell after next year, they will save a ton of cash, especially since they won't be playing football next year.

As a Raiders fan, I like the move. We need someone decent at QB and I like what they did in the rest of the draft too. The D is gonna be very good next year, now we have a QB who may be able to put up some points. It's worth a shot.

I've never been sold on Campbell (if he's so great, why did the Redskins just go trade for McNabb?), but it's a decent move for the Raiders, because Russell is the worst pro QB I've ever seen in my life, and bringing in talented guys to compete to take over the job is always a good move. A fourth-round pick is not a high price. Solid move.

But look at the alternatives that were out there this offseason. Delhomme is ten times better than this bum. Campbell couldn't read a defense if it was covered in "Braille".
The funny part is, Campbell even said today he wasn't sure he was going to be the back up to McNabb if he stayed on Washington. He might have been the third stringer.

How's the offensive line in Oakland. If Campbell has a halfway decent OL, he can be a high quality quarterback in this league easily.

OL isn't great, but they took two guys with a lot of potential in the draft. Love the Bruce Campbell pick in the 4th round, guys a beast.

Remember, NFL contracts aren't guaranteed like they are in the NHL or NBA.
Think back to when Shaun Alexander signed a contract extension with the shitHawks a few years back. It was for something like 100 million but he was gone a couple years later.
The contract extension really doesn't matter too much.
