The U.S. government payments, made Tuesday, came five years ahead of schedule, and Whitacre said they are a sign that the automaker is on its way toward reducing government ownership of the company. The payments on the Canadian loans were also made Tuesday.
GM still owes $45.3 billion to the U.S. and $8.1 billion to Canada, money it received in exchange for large stakes in the company. The U.S. government now owns 61 percent of the company and Canada owns roughly 12 percent. GM plans to repay both with a public stock offering, perhaps later this year.
How do you pay yourself back?? US and Canada own most of GM, yet GM Owes the US and Canada $$ .......Men get fifty dollars for a sperm donation. I've got a towel at home thats worth $250,000. It's leaning up against the wall in my bedroomComment -

#17unions do nothing but kill business. they were so good at what they did, they rendered themselves obsolete. take a look at Employment Law sometime.
GM isn't a care company, it is a health care provider for union members at our expense. oh, us taxpaying Americans are fukked no doubt, but these union cocksukkers will be just fine:
Last week, GM disclosed under new accounting rules, the company's worldwide unfunded pension liabilities are $27 billion as of Dec. 31.
GM's U.S. obligations grew by $3.5 billion to $17.1 billion as of the end of 2009, while it owes $10.3 billion for pension obligations elsewhere.
Treasury spokeswoman Meg Reilly said the department didn't have an immediate comment.
The Obama auto task force warned last year that GM's future pension costs -- which include $6 billion in payments due in 2013 and 2014 -- are "unsustainable" and would require GM to sell 900,000 additional cars each year to reach the obligation.
how many votes does obama buy everytime he saves these union fukks that try to operate business as if economic truths and realities don't apply?Comment -

#20It's a good scam. GM has us print money and depreciate the dollar. In a few years when everyone is paying 4 times as much for cars because of inflation GM pays us back 1/4 of our investment. Companies like Tesla motors never had a chance at a free market.Comment
