The need ( or ability to have) currency will be gone in a few decades anyway. We use debit and credit cards for a lot now, eventually it will be everything, and you won't have much of a choice, except perhaps the barter system.Comment -

Circulation of high-denomination bills was halted in 1969 by executive order of President Richard Nixon, in an effort to combat organized crime. The Federal Reserve began taking high-denomination bills out of circulation that year; as of May 30, 2009, there were only 336 of the $10,000 bills in circulation; 342 remaining $5,000 bills; and 165,372 $1,000 bills still being used.[2] Due to their rarity, collectors will pay considerably more than the face value of the bills to acquire them.
$100 in 1969 is probably like $500 today, so it's like having a max bill of $20, in 1969 terms.
Shit, even 24 hour gas stations take 100's now.....we don't take 100's....uhm, I'm getting a fillup and a pack of cigs.....OK, then !Comment -

Well we used to have coins ( Gold) of up to $20 until 1933, they didn't circulate very much, people preferred paper that was redeemable for Gold, until FDR killed that, and made Gold illegal to own ( with some exceptions).
Nobody wants a high denomination coin, Brock !, not even 80+ years ago. Most gold coins of the 1920's are in near uncirculated condition.Comment -

#51Originally posted by Brock Landerscoins for the 1 and 2 dollar, like canada, works well
I thought you were talking about coins of high denomination, not $1-2.
We have the same exact coin has the Canadian $1 Loonie, right now....same size, metal, just with dead presidents on it.
Canada had her Loonie coin, and $2 bills, for awhile, then went to a $2 coin and a $5 bill as smallest.
US $1 bills wear out in like 18 months, a coin could last 50 years or more, but won't circulate along with a $1 bill. US has had a small size dollar coin since 1979 ( SBA $).
That SBA was the same size as a Loonie, but the metallic composition of a quarter.
Dollar coins will work with no more dollar bills, out of neccessity.Comment -

#53Who cares if the US wants to print her paper money in a rather drab combination of dead presidents with buildings on the reverse. It wasn't always like that, early US currency was artistic and colorful. Earlier US coins were once works of art, now just dead presidents.
Shit , half you'se people probably think Benny Franklin was a POTUS.Comment -

Are you saying....unique....as in US Army olive green uniform ?
If so, OK !
I can see it many ways. I have no problem with rainbow colored money, whatsoever.....but it is isn't really the US custom for our paper money to be dull, since switching to small size notes.
Flamingos and sea turtles , and such, might be approriate on a note from a Carribean Island nation, Canada has the beaver, elk, loon, etc.
What's the difference, I'd accept the currency of whatever nation I might visit.Comment -
