Actually El Paso is pretty safe when Compared to Juarez.My Father retired to Alamogordo which is 100 miles North.Best way to view it is EL Paso is San Francisco and Juarez is it's Oakland.What happened was they had a Jack the Ripper type Hooker killer on the lose about 3 years ago and most of the Honest cops(Probably 2) spent there time on that which allowed new breed of attention seeking Drug dealers to go nuts
