Vikings-Saints will open season
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed what everyone suspected: The first game of the 2010 regular season will be the Minnesota Vikings at the New Orleans Saints.
"I know I will get in trouble from our scheduling makers for releasing this in advance," Goodell wrote in a live chat at NFL.com, ignoring the fact that he is the ultimate schedule maker, "but the Saints will be hosting the Minnesota Vikings for our Kickoff game. It should be a great celebration in a great city."
The game will take place on Thursday, September 9, and be shown on NBC.
The only question now is whether Brett Favre will be under center for the Vikings. We'll find that out in about four months.
