Why do online books have worse lines then Vegas?
Living in Vegas I've been looking up odds at the online books before going down to the Hilton or Plaza before placing my wagers.

From what I've noticed I get better lines constantly when I arrive at the window, then what I had written down from the online books.

The biggest difference is with totals. Where yesterday for example I got the StLouis cards over 7.5 +105, online was listed at -105 to even. Constantly on totals the lines are alwasy 5-15cents worse online. Even with the money lines and spreads they are almost just as bad.

So I'm asking why online books have such disparency in the lines compared to Vegas?
Men get fifty dollars for a sperm donation. I've got a towel at home thats worth $250,000. It's leaning up against the wall in my bedroom

Is it easier to bet huge online because your balance is a number not cash?

Ummmm. You can bet upwards of a million in vegas. See it all the time during the super bowl.

Also the set limits are up to 100,000 on some games in vegas.

Albeit the highest bet I ever made was 1100 (Saints in the SB) usually at the most I wager 300 max

LMAO go try and bet 1000 on any baseball game, side or total at a majority of the books in Vegas, you might be able to do it but youll probably have to talk to 50 guys and give a pint of blood. If you win a couple times dont expect to be approved in the future.

Vegas can post a sign with any limit they want, mostly for show, actually getting the action approved is another thing.

Really are there that many people here who believe everything they read and hear about Vegas?

Probably because most people have no other choice than to bet online rather than in Vegas and therefore the online books can get away with worse lines.

Why do you look at online odds if you live in Vegas?

I wonder why Vegas does not take big bets in bases ?? They sure have the money to pay.

Vegas isnt about gambling anymore unless it is slots, period.

Sportsbetting is an absolute joke and has been for awhile. Even 5 or 6 years ago you could get 2500 to 4K down on a game if they knew who you were and werent killing them. Secret was to go to different books that had the same lines (Boyd's, Leroys, etc) That way if you got on a little streak you could slide in under the radar somewhat. Last time I went I tried to bet 2500 and almost got laughed at, and that was on a college hoops game. Maybe if theyre buried one way and dont feel like gambling they might let it slide these das but not too much.

Its all about accounting and limitting the exposure and all that bullshit. That's why offshores took off so much in the first place.

Vegas is a total waste of time unless you want to go for the 'experience'. I had a place there for almost 7 years and spent most of the summer there when you could actually bet a baseball game enoughto make a living.

But ultimately they are afraid to get arbitraged I am sure. Once upon a time you could go around to a couple places and bet a side for a total of 12-15K and turn around and make 8-12 cents off your own money. Which if done on 3 or 4 games a day was a lot of money at the end of the year. Impossible to do now for the most part. But that reason alone is why a lot of books have lowered basball limits to almost ridiculous amounts.

You should be able to beat Vegas odds with low vig shops, and Matchbook.

With less overall vig, the line has to be better on at least one side online.

Title of this thread should be why does Vegas have worse lines than off shore. As some have pointed out, online books actually have higher limits usually than Vegas does despite what the casino signs say, thus off shore lines are generally sharper.
