How's this for a nice catch at Matchbook ?
    Port / Phoenix game.

I have over 204.5 before the game. 1st half produces 87 points ( 44-43 Port).

at the half I take Portland +6.5, and over 101.5

I go back to the original line of 204.5 being dealt live, offer up some under 204.5 at -780 ( so I get over 204.5 +780). I get it filled. I figure it needs OT to win, but a chance of a big half is there to squak it in without OT.... 105-100 Portland !

8-1 on OT seemed high to me.

what amazes me is that there are people out there that would grab that total at that price in a NBA game...I don't care what sport, you don't lay over (130) let alone (780), especially in the NBA.

      congrats on your big night

My offer started at about 900, to beat a 920 out there, got bid down to 800, I went 780, and got it ( it was only $20). +500 was offered if you accepted what was there. I had enough on it already at original odds, so only tried for $20 on the longshot, that's about all you're likely to fill this stuff for anyway. You can't count on filling it, this might not even be +EV....but I thought it was. What are the odds this game goes to OT ? It wins almost 100% if it does go OT. What are odds of over without the OT ?

I don't know how to figure it, but 780 seemed like a good deal for me.

How do you guys make a line on something like this ?

The guy laying -780 ( plus commission), must of thought he was making a good bet, too !

What would the fair ( no vig) line be for this , and how the Hell do you figure it ? recap....

Port/Phx over 204.5 for the game

              at half

              Port 44
              Phx 43

              87 points

make an adjusted line for 204.5, with no vig.

On the adjusted line I would say....-300 or so (just a guess). I think the -780 was a bad bet.
