I remember hearing they haven't made any new ones because they got sued a few times and a few of the guys featured ended up committing suicide.

Because conspiracy to commit these acts or intent to commit these acts are less penalized than actually committing these acts.

Attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder will get you 5-15 years in most states, actual murder will get you much more.
