I wasn't aware of that. I have never used prepaid cards, I have always dealt with Bank Wires, **, ** and Checks.

If it's a prepaid card why do you need to give them your SS#? I am not familiar with Prepaid cards but I know someone who gets them loaded at a store here but never has to give his SS. Wondering why they need it?

i dont know but the walmart money card is the same way dealing with SS#.. pretty sure the ******** is also. walmart money card has a monthly fee though, thats why i was interested in the ********, to see if its the same way or not. word is ******** card doesn't have monthly fees.

you can direct deposit checks and people use these cards as their "bank". i guess the govt wants to keep track of that money.

There is something I must be missing about the Prepaid cards. Like I said, I don't use them and have no interest in them. For instance, you can walk into La Cumbre Plaza here in Santa Barbara into the business office and pay for a prepaid **** card but you don't have to give a SS#. Maybe the difference is you can make a deposit with it but you can't take money out. That is probably it but who knows.

Usually when you buy a card where you can make cash withdrawals, you need to provide SSN#
