A little tip if you bet the series prices.
Was going to post this yesterday but only one game really fit it and it was marginal.

But if you like a dog in the series it is usually best to look atthe ML for game one. Not that it always works but it is a good benchmark to go from.

Example. San Antonio is +150 for the series against dallas (actually just went to 169 as I was typing). Today they are +193 for the game(and that moved to +171) LOL moved agaion now down to +154. Simplistic thinking is if you like S.A. to win the series you bet them today for the game for +193. If they win you have already beaten the odds you would have gotten for the series, you cal it a day or you free roll. if they lose you then have game one to look at and evaluae whether they really can win the series or not. if so, youll be getting better odds on them since they are down 0-1.

Of course some people will bet S.A. for the series AND bet them today at +193. These are the people that bookmakers love.

Series prices in the NBA are usually a decent short term investment and can usually offer some nice arbitraging, not so much in the first rounds, but definitely in the later ones.

Even when I was gambling full time I didnt bet the NBA regular season. But always had decent success with the series betting.

So even though when I started this post it was a good spot to take a shot, it isnt now. But will be worth looking at in the later rounds.

Phoenix was another great one when it first clicked they were -300 today ML (currently -450) and -480 series (currently -600).

But I would continue to watch prices to see where you can get a shot.

I believe Ganch has a series price calculator up on the betting tools page. If you're betting a series, input the odds of what each game should be and take a look.

Too many variables. Not least of which is the person's ability to actually figure out what a fair line should be for the next game let alone the next 3 or 4. If someone gets injured forget about it.

i completely disagree with the strategy of betting game one on a money line underdog INSTEAD OF the series price.
for the series, essentially the underdog only has to win one of the first two road games to be a favorite in the series.
so by just picking one of those instead of getting both you will feel pretty bad when your dog wins the 2nd one instead of the 1st, you'd have a good in the money bet that you can hedge against instead of losing 100% on the first game.

just to clarify i'm not saying that taking a shot on a 2-1 moneyline dog isn't a good idea.
but it's often a bad idea to do that instead of a series price on a team like the spurs that could lose the first game and still legitimately take 4 of the next 6.
