Kelly adjusted well to sergio's tactics but the bad cuts on both eyes made it hard for him to see and couldn't do anything after that. Unfortunate break for kelly.

The wrong guy was favored. The boxer with much greater speed and slickness will always beat the puncher as long as he can take a punch. Martinez takes a punch well so Pavlich would have had to catch him with combinations to have stopped him. Pavlich is a classy guy who made no excuses (as opposed to the sore losing Abraham and Kessler) and he should move up to 168 where he would be a force and not have to kill himself to make weight.

I don't know why he ever took that Hopkins fight back in 08. That I think has really derailed him. He is clearly not the same fighter.

When has Pavlik ever been an elite fighter? Who has Kelly Pavlik beaten?

I never understood why people put so much stock in him. For one, he ruled the weakest Middleweight division. And his biggest wins (Miranda and Taylor) were all quickly decreasing in value during his entire "undisputed reign".

If Jermain Taylor didn't wear himself out trying to finish Pavlik in the 1st fight, JT would have cruised to a landslide decision and Pavlik would have been a career mid-carder; assuming he wouldn't have just jumped to 168 sooner to be a resume padder. Hopkins wouldn't have wasted his time either, so he wouldn't be the scapegoat for Pavlik apologists.

those cuts were awful. one appeared on his left eye as soon as the bell rang in the first round. i'm a pavlik fan so i was disappointed to see him lose no thanks to those cuts. pavlik just can't make it happen when he steps up in class. it'll be a rough road back for him to win a belt back, i thought at -170 last night he was money.

I was at the fight about 8 rows back the cuts really hindered Pavlick. Martinez never hit him real hard but kept connecting on those jabs and opening up the cuts. There is a re-match clause in the contract. Pavlick will have a lot of motivation after all the showboating by Martinez. It was a great undercard.

I enjoyed the fight as well. The bute fight was a joke though. Miranda is an asshole who made a fool out of himself.
