Fishhead: What do people do for fun in Iowa ?
I only driven through the state, seems like the whole state is covered in corn, and other crops.

No beaches, no mountains, too cold in the winter, hot in the summer.

    What does one do there....

Can you bet on that ?

I'd guess poker and other forms of gambling would be popular.

They do the same thing everyone else in America does. Iowa is a large state and has a downtown and sharps, boutiques, gazebos, etc.

Many fun activities Doug.................would like to take you to hometown someday so you can experience it.

Iowa has some fantastic golf courses for one thing............that are not crowded and extremely cheap to play.........love golf in Iowa!!

The family atomosphere is none better perhaps in the entire nation...........great schools and great place to be brought up.

Sports are huge in Iowa, both from a spectator and playing perspective.............IOWA has four major universities to follow in sports professional sports teams are close by(KC, MINN, STL, CHI).............from where I grew up, all an easy 3-7 hour drive to each venue.

High school sports is terriffic in the state and well followed......unlike most states, if you live in Iowa you are always aware of who the state champs are in each class in every major sport(football, wrestling, bases, basketball, volleyball, softball, track).

There are many, many gaming venues in the state..............in every area.

Everyone loves to party in Iowa........great drinking state with many great watering holes

Lots of yearly events such as arguablly the nations best STATE FAIR, numerous county fairs, national Hobo conventions, tulip festivals, hot air balloons, .........lots and lots of sightseeing in Iowa.

IOWA FOOTBALL ranks supreme over anything else..............great stuff.

DOUG, you and THE GENERAL are tops on my list for a grand tour..........and you will never look at Iowa in the same light again.

Iowa is a terriffic place in so many aspects.

In my lifetime, I've taken many individuals there who have never been there or only been through it on the interstates................not one single one came away unimpressed and didn't have a great time.........the majority asking me afterwards how I could possibly leave such a nice place.

When I am in Iowa all I do is grill meat, listen to vinyl played at an unbelievable volume, and drink various micro brews.
