Actually, Iowa is one of, if not the coldest states in the mainland for the duration of the winter..........the reason being is the WIND. The cold currents generally and more often then not run right through Iowa...........and the majoity of Iowa is flat as a pancake................EXTREMELY COLD AND POSSIBLY THE WORST PLACE IN THE MAINLAND TO SPEND THE WINTER MONTHS.

This is a great country, so I agree, if given the chance to see it one should. Fish, I have been to Iowa, traveled up and down the Mississippi on back roads while driving from MSP to Davenport. Was wonderful, saw a couple eagles. The people seemed to be honest and hard working. Refreshing. Though I have experienced the same in places like NYC and other cities also. Now I must dig out my Manfredd Mann, "Lies through the 80`s" album and hear Stranded in Iowa. thanks for the reminder.

Manfredd Mann was one of my favorite groups...........DAMN, can't believe it has been so long since I listened to them...........for a 5-8 year stretch I probably didn't go more then 3 days without listening to them. I love that "STRANDED IN IOWA" song.
