I'm not going to comment on whether or not mikejamm's pick should count or not. Obviously there is a conflict between what I think is "fair" and looking out for my own self-interest (obviously like the others I want to win the contest - who wouldn't?). So anything I state is obviously tainted. Will just let SBR make their own ruling about it, and whatever they decide, I am ok with.

I would however make a couple of suggestions to SBR for the future in this and perhaps other similar contests (the World Cup from last summer was a good example of this). When it gets late/down to only a few entrants (say less than ten or the very last few picks as it was in the World Cup), allow people to PM a certain moderator with their pick rather than posting it here publicly. Problem is, if it's posted publicly, obviously that gives others incentive to wait until the last minute and potentially alter their pick based on what others have picked, and that's a clear edge to them.

For example, if say the Grizzlies/Thunder line was, at this point, in books 233.5 (so that that was a "fair" line), no doubt after seeing myself and 5mike5 pick under, mikejamm would have had a clear motive to pick over. Basically if over wins then, he wins the contest while if under wins, myself and 5mike5 still are each only still 50% to win - as such mikejamm would get a clear edge on us (obviously that did not happen - just saying hypothetically why it would be bad).

So as I said, I really would suggest allowing people to PM their picks when it's down to a few people or one of the last few picks in a long-term contest. That way also people have pretty much no incentive to wait until the very last minute to make their pick (as we all did here) so if you miss getting your pick in because you chose to wait until the last minute and then there was some type of software issue - well that's on you at that point.

Another moderate suggestion: since I guess most moderators (like Drew) don't work on the weekend, which is why he posted the Sunday lines on Friday night, if that's an issue, why not just take Sunday off completely and resume the contest on Monday if needed? Both the lines you posted for Sunday were unfortunately way off from the actual line, the Grizzlies/Thunder line is about 216.5 currently, small wonder that all of us picked Under 233.5 as our pick! And that's kind of silly so why not just take Sunday off rather than guessing at the lines and potentially getting ones which are completely off from the market?

I'm being totally honest here Arun, that was going to be my pick all along and there's no way I would ever try to gain an advantage, that's not how I play or would ever want to win. I did wait until the 3:59pm to post, as most of us do, but the site kept giving me that stupid error message. I would hope you guys would understand it wasn't my fault.

I believe you mike. Obviously you weren't trying to gain an advantage - picking the same way as both of us did obviously means today's game is irrelevant, contest winner will be decided on a later day - hard to see how you could gain an edge from that!

I was merely pointing out how I think SBR could improve this contest a little bit in the future, wasn't really exactly in reference to you, though the fact that all of us waited til the end to make our pick is a symptom. By removing the incentive people have to wait until the last minute to pick via allowing us to PM our picks, then if anyone had such an issue (that is, they waited until the last minute but something went wrong), it's their own fault at that stage. If my or 5mike5's internet/phone had chosen to go down at an inopportune moment, the same thing might have happened to us.

After all, imagine in Beat the Prick if going into the last week the two people in first and second were way ahead of everyone else, just battling with each other for first/second. Then if the guy in first had the ability to exactly copy the guy in second's picks, he obviously would do so since it would lock up first for him. And clearly SBR, via having picks hidden in BTP until the game in question starts, does not allow that to happen. So I think they should implement a similar type thing here - at least when it gets down to the nitty-gritty of the contest, that is when there are only a few people left and/or a few picks left.

Thanks mike. It's been a weird ass day to say the least. I'm a little farther north thank goodness, but I do have friends down south who texted and said its a freak'in mess down there. 23 dead in Alabama, just crazy bro. Beginning of March and tornados already.

Thanks and congrats mikejamm! I just hope that getting so deep in this contest doesn't mean I've used up all my luck for awhile, especially considering that I didn't manage to win in the end But it's all for fun really - more than anything, these contests give some fun sweating action, whether you end up doing well or not! So thanks to SBR for that!

And glad that they've already started towards the next one - these consistent daily/day to day contests have really improved things here imo - almost every day you get to sweat one game at least!
