I think he doesn't need the money. When carol passed away he got 500k from her life insurance policy. Also he would have gotten some from his aunt, but she paid off the sharks 3 years ago when jjgold lost 22k on the patriots -7 in the 1st half vs the giants in the superbowl.

Who knows, but think about it:

1) only makes videos from there during the week, which suggests he is a paid employee in some capacity

2) there is no one ever there, nor does he seems worried that someone might show up. he blasts his music and yells at imaginary people at the top of his lungs

3) It's clearly not his own office personl space since there's always bizarre stuff there (halloween candy, christmas wreaths on the floor, industrial-sized photocopier, etc.)

4) He is often dressed in his usual rags/gambling outfit, which suggests that whatever he does at that office, he's long gone before anyone else shows up (or he changes his clothes)

I can's speculate as to what he does there exactly, but I'm pretty confident that he gets paid to do whatever he does there.
