I'm strictly talking within the United States.........
Say for example, sending 6,000-7,000 every 3 months or so to a grandchild or someone similar.

Can't imagine a situation in which I would ever have to and no I would not feel comfortable even though common sense tells me it would be fine.

I would and did send $ to my father in Arizona to hide in his bank but I used Express US MAIL and never had a problem
Just put them in another envelope and than put that envelope in the express mail in front of the clerk at the window and it will never get flagged

Concerned with the safety AND the legal concerns(if any).
Thanks

You can get insurance on it.
Also, I think it is legit legally if it is not above 10,000, in which case it would still be legal but you would have to claim it.
Why not just use western union or moneygram?
You could even load a prepaid card through moneygram, and send the card itself, and phone with the pin # upon receiving the card.

If they insure it why not, 6K is nothing to get really worried about, they will pay up if it goes missing you could even get extra on top for the trouble caused.

You guys must not know the rules of the streets... Criminals will hit up all the mail company's EXCEPT the USPS. Stealing from the USPS is a federal offense that will get you sent up, lock and no key. Fedex, UPS, DHL is fair game to rob. Now most guys are looking for big package items or they credit card scam then ship to vacant buildings, so most are not looking for small boxes unless they know money is in it.
but, the safest way to send cash is the USPS. I've personally sent thousands via USPS. Just don't have the money visible (duh), and make sure you ship to right address and it will get there.

NEVER send cash..Cashier's check, money order, as fish stated, all good. Sending cash is tantamount to giving it away.

True story... Friend in the drug game used to send cash USPS to his mom every month (like $50k) for years no problem. He made 2 Western Union'd payments to her for about $130k total and got racketeering charges against him and had to do time.
Now if your legally making money like that then great but if you can't prove how your sending big money you better not have a paper trail...

I wouldn't but it is very safe. I think it depends on your wealth as to how comfortable you'd feel. If 6K+ is chump change, then sure, but me personally, 6K+ is a lot of coin.

be careful, there's a gift tax you have to pay if you give someone more than 12k per year. (it may be 13k now)
