TOKYO (Reuters) - American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. said on Monday he had signed with Japanese mixed martial arts promotions company RIZIN Fighting Federation to fight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year's Eve in Saitama.The undefeated 41-year-old, who has won world boxing titles in five different weight categories, has never fought professionally in mixed martial arts and it had yet to be decided what format and rules the fight would follow, he said.The bout is to be held at the RIZIN.14 event.Mayweather's last bout was in 2017 when he beat Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor, running his boxing record to 50-0 and earning close to $300 million.

This won't be MMA and Rizin isn't lower level. Nasukawa is legit, undefeated in MMA and would annihilate Floyd within a few minutes in an MMA or a kickboxing fight. I guarantee Floyd makes this a boxing match.

It is likely to be a boxing match, so those odds are pretty crazy. I'd jump all over Floyd if my book had those odds. Floyd should be favored by -1000 or more in a boxing match. Reverse if it's an MMA or kickboxing bout(which it obviously won't be)

If this happens, its obviuosly going to be scripted. That 20 year old will get a big pay day and throw the match. Floyd much better pay day and agreed only after the 20 year old agreed to lose and run with the cash. Thats the only logical reasoning i can come up with to see how they put this together.

Great career move for Nasukawa. He’ll make more money in one fight than 20 RIZN events. Can’t figure Floyd’s angle here though. He’d be better off making some ridiculous PPV fight against someone like Brock Lesnar or anyone else equally ridiculous.
