My bro is getting a brand new condo with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and basement for just $720/month. Up here your looking at $1,200 a month minimum.

I live in TN on the NC line. Charlotte is actually on the SC border. Great town. I have a 1st cousin who lives there. I go a couple times a year.

heres a yahoo map. Im in Johnson City, TN across the line from Asheville, probably about 3.5 hours from Charlotte. Duke,UNC,NC St, all those are to the northeast a little ways, not too far.

You are right on I-77. an hour south you can be at Univ South Carolina, about 2.5 hours north be at VA Tech

i went to college about an hr south of charlotte in southcarolina. NC is sweet dude they are right its a lot less cheaper to live there its a little slower pace than where im from but thats fla. i think you will like it boss only down fall for me is i was like 4 hrs from the beach!!

I went to college in PA and even though cigs were only like 3.50 - 4.50 a buddy of mine would go down to NC and smuggle back cartons to sell at parties and to convenience stores. NC is the cheapest b/c that is where Salem Winston grows all its leaf.

you would be near UNCC, Panthers and Bobcats lots to do in Charlotte. I dont smoke but dont think cigs are quite that cheap but are considerably cheaper than NJ (smoking isn't beneficial to playing sports) UNC Duke and NC State are in the Raleigh area a couple hours from Charlotte weather in great lots of rednecks easy to find poker games lottery etc, lots of golf courses

I know, when I graduated high school about 10 of my friends all went off to live in Cali. They are all back now. My brother only has to be there 7 months. It's a 7 month football program where he can still get some college credits while playing. I think I am going to use those 7 months as a trial to see if I could cut it on my own. If not, I will just head home.

Southeast, especially NC is where all american tobacco is still grown. They still havent imposed all the taxes like everywhere else. Everywhere in the south is ALOT cheaper than up north. And if you think they are high there try Canada.

Who told you cigarettes are $2.25 here? Cigarettes range from 3-5 a pack here, depends on what you smoke. The state as a whole has cracked down on tobacco users. NC used to be a big pro tobacco state, but times have changed.

While it is true the cost of living is fairly reasonable (in certain areas), the place u are moving 2 is fairly high compared to other parts of the state. I live near the Raleigh area and have so most of my life.

You are moving in the Charlotte area, right? You will be fairly close to the Cherokee Casino. The tribe in Cherokee is trying to get table games at their Casino. They started the fight a couple of months ago. As of now they only have vid poker and slots, I believe. So if you like casinos then this move wont be that bad for u. Charlotte is home 2 the Panthers and Bobcats. University of South Carolina is in Columbia (like 2-3 hours from you). Duke, UNC, NC State, Carolina Hurricanes are probably another 2 1/2-3 hours from you.
