    Help with VIN search please.......
Short story...... I had a car re-poed back in early 2000 and now have a collection agency looking for a settlement from me.

I need to get a history on the car after it was taken so I can crunch the numbers and offer them an amount I feel is fair. I know I'll owe but after making payments for a year minus the amount the car was re-sold for I will have a number to counter offer with at least......

This is why I've been searching using the VIN # to try and find a history but all the sites I've found want at least $29.99 and up for this info.

If anyone knows of another option/source

    TIA

I live in Pennsylvania and searched their DMV without any luck

you'll probably have to pay. What exactly are you needing to know about it?

If you have any friends in the dealerships they can run a carfax for ya. It costs them but not much, and as many as they run he can sweep it in the pile with the rest. Plus it doesnt cost them much because of volume

Not interested in who bought it after it was re-poed but how much it was sold for so i can deduct this off my amount owed. The orginal creditor was PNC Bank and they should have been paid the proceeds from the re-sale and I need to contact that bank for my payment history. Never late or missed payment it was a "95" Mercury Mystic and I was having the same problem they had a recall on 96's and they wouldn't include?

My mistake since I didn't go to Bank for any guidance/assistance back then, just tried working thru Ford who wasn't involved on the finance end........ live/learn

Thanks for the tip on another option.......and quick reply......

29.99 will save you a couple of thousand. The Profit has that name for a reason

I'll wait till Monday so any other input is welcome and then stop over the local dealer and see if he'll do-it for less. Rather give him a $20 then use an on-line outfit....... Thanks again

like i say, if you know someone pretty good they wont charge you. I used to sell cars & manage auto parts stores. Sorry, I just assume everybody has friends in every dealership in the city like me
