pirates got adeiny Ecchaveria? for free rental

rays are paying him still for the most part, i saw it will only cost the pirates about 160k or something like that

hes basically only a shortstop, so the move is a bit strange in that regard, although hurdle said they would use him at 2nd base as well

they could deal mercer if they fall out of contention, which may happen

sean rodriguez is terrible, but hes a hurdle guy, so it might be luplow sent back to triple a

SROD can still play all positions, which is valuable if you want to carry 13 pitchers, and plus the 40 man had an open spot, so they dont have to DFA anyone after this move

Pirates right-hander Chris Archer has been among the most prominent major leaguers in the news this week. Archer just underwent thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, meaning he won’t pitch until at least 2021. It also means his tenure could be done in Pittsburgh, which will have to decide between an $11MM club option and a $250K buyout next winter.

Archer’s surgery came as the latest disastrous development during his time with the Pirates, who made an ill-fated trade with the Rays to acquire him in July 2018.

You knew that trade was awful the second they made it.
