I used to think Pinny's lines were the most predictive of the "market close". I'm not sure this is the case anymore.

Who do you think has the sharpest game lines? And on a similar line, who has the strongest halftime lines?

The Spiro lean in bases has been pretty poor in the past 4-6 weeks.

I don't look at BM much.

If Pinny is a betting operation disguising itself as a bookmaker then shaded opening lines are the first place to look. To sharpen that edge, look for a first movement in the same direction. In week 4 the NYG line opened at -120, then went to -125. That was the NFL Pinny lean of the week. This is basically the same type of information that a bookmaker back in the days would pay for by letting some ultra sharps take first crack.

I hven't dealt with Bookmaker, but between Pinny & Greek, I's have to say Pinny. I had a harder time keeping $$ in there. Seems they never missed a trick.

I respectfully disagree with your Pinnacle comments Raiders.

Pinnacle seems to move there lines much easier these days it seems like, especially for boxing and tennis.

Sharpness of book depends on sharpness of bettors

All these books want to balance their action. Why do you think pinnacle has been sharp? It is because professionals with a lot of money rather bet their opinion at a book with low juice and large limits. They are definitely not as sharp as they use to be now that U.S. action is not allowed.

Olympic uses a formula to come up with their halftime lines. Their halftime lines are in fact not very sharp as the Olympic linesmakers are not watching all of these games to form opinions, and don't have time to review all the statistics. The lines get sharp quickly as the pros are the first to bet them, and Olympic is happy to take this action as it helps sharpen the line.

Same goes for CRIS and their early college lines. They are not sharp if you bet them as soon as they come out. They are using formulas that CRIS will discover doesn't apply when someone with more than a few minutes to analyze a specific game hits them with a big bet.

These books are sharp because they allow sharp players to determine the line, and that is it. It is not because the people who work there are any better than picking games than the best amongst ourselves.
