i agree 100%, not only the quickness and hand speed, he had chin of steel, imagine standing in front of foreman for eight rounds taking punches and still stand, the best of the best

He tarnished his image by hanging around too long. I know, he's not the first nor will he be the last but my recollections of him are getting beaten by Leon Spinks and clowning in the ring instead of fighting. Rope-a-Dope is the reason he's in the condition he's in today.

Watching the video kinda bums me out that I only was able to see the ending of his career. My biggest image I can remember of him was Larry Homes beating him silly, then Holmes crying in the post fight interview that he didn't want to do it.

Guy was a real fvcking scumbag. Frazier supported him politically and even financially at times and Ali really turned his back on Frazier and spit on the relationship by making racist comments and disparaging Frazier's mother. Not cool, probably motivated by the almighty dollar.

Also well put. By the way, Fedor is the greatest. Ali in his prime wouldn't last 2 minutes in a MMA match or a street fight against Fedor.

You may be right. But a good MMA fighter will beat a great boxer in a real fight 9 times out of 10.

Boxing is real fighting. If you were watching a bar fight, what would go through your head if you saw some guy try to kick someone or wrestle him to the ground?

he was as good a talker as he was a fighter and it helped his legend grow. pound for pound, any boxing expert will tell you that he is NOT the greatest boxer of all time, not even the greatest heavyweight. best boxer of all time was sugar ray robinson and the best heavyweight ever was joe louis. ask anyone who really knows boxing and is a historian of the sport

As someone that trained as a street fighter (mix of wing-chun, wushu, muay-thai and tai-chi) for a few years i fought and occasionally trained with a number of amateur boxers il tell u now none of them would have lasted 10 seconds in the street (not a ring and no rules in the street remember) had they fought someone who knew what they were doing....The average guy a boxer would clean up np but fighting someone that is switched on and knows what their doing is another story all together.....

Would be very interested to see how he shaped up against some of the fighters of the late 90's.
Don't know if he would of been so highly regarded if he had fought in another era.
                                            We will never know.

Ronaldo is good, but I have to agree with Cruyf, I would put Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Puskas, Di Stefano, George Best, Beckenbauer, Zico, Van Basten, Gerd Muller, Zidane and few others above him.

I was being extremely generous when I agreed with you that Fedor wouldn't last 2 rounds with Ali in a Boxing match. Lets look at the facts: Ali had ONLY 3 KO's inside of 2 rounds in his 56 professional fights. Fedor has NEVER been knocked out in 34 professional fights yet he has finished over a dozen fighters in the first round himself. I'm not saying Fedor would beat Ali in a boxing match but it wouldn't end quickly. Fedor runs 10 miles a day and virtually never gases. Now, lets get to bar/street fighting. Here's something that does not work in a bar fight: ROPE A DOPE. Here are things that can work in a bar fight: Muay Thai clinch with knees to the face, front choke, Judo throw, ground and pound. Like I said, the MMA fighter wins 9 times out of 10.
