Big Difference Between Good Contest Players And Good Handicappers
Rarely good at both, many good contest players cannot win betting games

Contests involve no money most of time therefore no pressure as oppossed to betting a game.

Fishhead is a rare case where he is good at both.

FEZZIK actually made a great point on this........

Betting games is like CASH GAMES in poker.
Playing contests is like TOURNAMENT poker.

I thought that was an excellent analogy.........and spot on.

Very few poker players are great cash game players as well as tournament players.........case in point, PHIL THE BRAT

99% of sportsbettors would do better if ALL THEY DID WAS PLAY CONTESTS.

The problem with most of these contests is that they force you to make too many picks in too short a period of time.

A contest like Beat the Prick, which let's you make a few plays over a long period of time, allows you to pick the plays for which you would normally bet.

True and then they become a crapshoot, takes the skill out of it if there really is any.

JJ knows top sportsbooks and gamblers as well as anyone in the country.

How in the world do you think he got where he is today, by luck?

I didnt play the bracket contest, seemed like too much BS with the books at the beginning so stayed away. But I do very well in both. As I have said before, I always encourage new SBR'ers to join contests because I feel it helps with my handicapping. I like to see newbies join contests instead of begging for 300 points on their 5th day here.
