Guys, what is the secret to playing LIMIT POKER?

    Any insightful tips?

The game is pure torture, and I keep losing my ass, but I need to improve.

    Anyone have any useful advice?

    Starting hands and position

Start playing only top 15% of the top hands otherwise fold

    Raise pre flop always

if you get resistance you're probably beat but calculate your implied odds

You really have to know the table...certain guys who are simply going to call every draw down to the river...if you think you have the best just keep max bet....really a terrible game.

    What form of limit poker?

If you're playing the more traditional forms of limit poker (the horse games) the 2+2 books are excellent. For the newer limit games (archie, badugi varients, etc.) learn general poker theory as much as you can and apply those basic principles to the game.

Also, if you find limit poker to be "torture" try playing shorthanded. Shorthanded limit poker has big variance and imo gets the degen juices flowing much more than big bet poker.

    Good luck.

I'm actually playing shorthanded. It's usually anywhere between two and four people.

It's a frustrating game. Seems impossible to get people to even fold ace high.

Raise every button. Bet every flop.

Check raise flop a lot in a heads up pot. Lead turns if you want them to check river with a higher frequency.

Giant is really bored. The limits make the game weird imo. Feels like play money no strategy. Robots probably crush it.

I think it's a brutal game, if the rake is any significant % of the pots.

It's pretty close to bingo. Really, you're trying to take advantage of other player errors. Starting hand selection is important.

Poor players start w/ too much crap and hang around too long. The catch-22 is that once the pot starts to grow, you often have proper odds to continue.

David Sklansky wrote a book called Hold EM Poker for Advanced Players - you should read that.

I'm playing with bitcoin, but it currently equates to about $10/$20.

I need to see 1000 flops a week to qualify for some freerolls that are super juicy. Unfortunately, while I'm trying to qualify I'm typically getting hammered.

You need to play tighter PF since bluffing is less an option than in NL. Bluff less Post flop. Calling with ace high becomes more reasonable since you're only needing to call one or two BB on the river. GL!

Think you have to turn 60.

They used to include limit in the promos and everyone in the room hated them.

    no foldem holdem.....

to avoid torture, just play your draws and be the guy that sucks out all the time.....

flop a set, with potential for strts or flushes on bd, be prepared to fold immediately unless you fill up.....

don't raise/reraise without the nuts or damn close to em.....

    move to a nlhe table

If you're playing limit hold 'em, you'll usually want to go all the way with A high 2-4 handed.

Come to LA, the Capitol of LHE, and play with the loosest Asians you can find. Make the chasers pay for their draws. They will call you down with any 2 cards so be in there betting and raising as much as possible. Cry when they river you. Rinse and repeat.

Play suited connectors and gappers. Hammer your good hands and call down with pairs on reasonably textured boards. For christ's sake bro it's poker. Do you take notes or have any idea about the players???
