    College basket
First of all, im not from the US. But I was in shock seeing that over 70,000 people attended those games with Butler and Duke.

    Two questions:

    1) Why would somebody risk large money on this appearently kids playing? THis situation with all the media, public must totally get to their head. I guess thats why the Butler game was so low scoring, too much pressure.

    2) Just a "stupid" question. I noticed several college players plays with a t-shirt under their jersey. Looks kind of unprofessional. Afraid to show their biceps? Why do they do this? You never see that in the NBA

    enlighten me

Most of the time the kids doing it in college ball are white kids, and a high percentage of them don't make it to the NBA, which may be why you don't see it in the NBA. Or there may be a rule against it, I really don't know.

Lol I tried googling it: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_do_som..._their_jerseys

I can't tell you exactly why college players today wear t-shirts, but I can tell you how it got started. Patrick Ewing of Georgetown University started the practice. He used to catch colds, so he wore the t-shirt to keep warm. It has kind of become a fashion statement now, but that is how it started.

Interesting, I guess Patrick Ewing was unaware that whether it was cold or not actually has no relation to catching colds

            1) The boosters control everything. Boosters are the sponsors of the college teams, alumni who give money to the school and attend fundraisers with the coaches. These boosters bet lots of money on their schools to cover the spread. This is why the coaches are under pressure not only to win but cover the spread by leaving the starters in the game until the objective is done.

            2) Personal choice

College sports is the biggest sports market in the U.S. There's a limited number of professional teams in Sports, but there is a shitload of colleges. This is the main reason why we bet on kids! Because it's what there is to bet on.

What country are you in? Do they not have collegiate athletic programs there?

I don't know who the "main" boosters for Duke are. Duke is a private university. It is in the top 10 of universities in the US as far as academics. Alot of Duke grads go on to become very wealthy.

Plenty of time to admire the pretty Scandinavian girls no time to sports then...no such thing as college, we go straight to the senior team if we are good enough

here collegiate sports are used as a minor league per say, without pay. But on scholarship you can get your education paid for because it generates millions for the college.
