NCAA is option 3 for sports fans on the day of the championship. What a joke.
Nice hit Brock. Who you like in bases tomorrow night?..I guess you missed one of the best championship games in the last 20 years..How does Butlers ass taste? I believe this game had a top 10 rating for all programs on TV of this year.

#45in this 2010 final 4, 2 of the 3 gms came down to the wire whereas:
2009: 1 close gm
2008: 1 close gm
2007: no great gms
2006: 3 blowouts

#50This tourney had a lot of close games and great upsets. Day 1 was craaaazy and it continued to the end. While last night was a close game it was an ugly game. I didn't like the style of football Butler tried to play last night. It was very sloppy. I think somebody compared it to the tourney in 1984. I don't think they had a shot clock or 3 point line back then, so to score the same amount of points just shows you how slow and boring this game was. Duke was close to blowing this game out on several occasions only to have Butler tackle someone or push someone in the back, etc. and bash their way back into the game. If they didn't make that mini run with a minute left, this might have been considered one of the worst games because of the lack of offense on both sides.
I would have rather seen Houston Yates HS team play. Now they are an exciting team to watch.Comment -

i think could easily have been the best 2 teams in the country(most talented no but teams yes)unfortunately Butler style of play is based of making ppl look bad and Butler never looks pretty but yes if there allowed to play the game like that butler is one of the best, while duke is the best because although it was ugly they managed to do something cuse, k-st, mich st could not which is win against a team that was mugging the shit out of them on the defensive end.....the way duke was playing coming in if you put them against one of the teams you consider to be the best you get a more entertaining game and duke probably rolls themComment -

#58Originally posted by whatsgood5We have differing opinions of this game.
Title games have moments that you tend to remember when a player or team rises to the occasion. Derrick Rose missed FT, Kansas huge 3 to go to OT. Carmelo's 20/10/7 vaulting Cuse over Kansas by 3 points, Gators inside, outside game, winning back to back titles, Noah horsing around but dominating in the post, etc. Greg Oden beasting on peeps. Lawson, Ellington, Hansborough all scoring well and pushing their draft stock last year. This is just the past few years. What will I remember about last night??? Maybe the last second miss shot by Hayward? That's really not memorable. Maybe all the pushing and shoving? This was a very forgettable game even though it was close.
How can anyone even call this game a top 10??? Maybe if your 12 years old??? UCLA/UK or UK/Duke in the 70's.
These games played in the 80's were all much better games.
1982 Georgetown/UNC 63-62: with Jordan hitting the game winner with guys like Ewing, Sleepy Floyd, Worthy, and Sam Perkins OMG that was a game.
1983 NCState over Houston 54-52: Olajuwan/Drexler vs Thurl Bailey/Whittenburg and Charles?
1985 Nova vs Georgetown 66-64, much better game then last night. Not even on the same level.
1986 Duke vs Ville 72-69: Nervous Pervis Ellison vs johnny Dawkins
1987 Indiana vs Cuse 74-73: Steve Alford, would the Pacer's draft him number 1 after a title? They end up taking Reggie Miller.
1988 Danny Manning and Kansas over Mookie and OU 87-79
1989 MSU over Seton Hall in overtime...80-79
Each one of these games were incredible but even more so look at the players who made such an impact in the NBA. I wish I had time to break down how truly special those title games were. That was just the 80's (best title games ever IMO). The 90's had some great ones as well. Last nights game wasn't even in the top 20 when I really think about it.Comment -

#59Originally posted by Mac4LyfeIt was a close game but that doesn't often translate to exciting. I did dose off from time to time last night (I just got back from out of town so that could have been it). It was a great game because of the close ending but the play on the court was really tough to watch.

Did you watch the "One Shining Moment" promo they did at the end of the broadcast? They generally show a bunch of clips from the title game. Last night they showed 2 quick snip clips of the entire game. What does that tell you? The camera folks couldn't even find tidbits of the entire game to show the audience. No signature dunks, no alley oops, nothing... Close game BUT very boring to watch. You won't see many people rewatching this match.Comment -

#62Originally posted by Mac4LyfeI think Duke was one of the best teams in the country but I'm not so sure about Butler. I agree, they make teams look bad but it sure makes an ugly game to watch. I didn't really see it until last night. They were more of a body checking hockey team then an actual basketball team. It started pissing me off to see them shove and push and not even try to play basketball. Duke would have looked much better playing someone else.
yea that 2nd half got way out of hand, im all for good defense but the way nothing was being called really kept duke from being able to run a offense...i mean damn guys with the ball were being grabbed all to hell off the ball they were being muggedComment -

edit: I took Stanford +8 first half. I'll then take Uconn 2nd half no matter the line. UConn has let teams stay close in the 1st half then pull away in the 2nd. They did the same thing last year as well. They mentally slipped up against Baylor and I hope that won't get them too fired up to start tonight but I've got to go with their trend. I wouldn't be surprised if Stanford is leading at the half.Comment -
