You can try Gemini if it's available in your state. I think all but 4 or 5 states have approved them. They're cheaper than Coinbase for ACH but they don't yet offer credit/debit card purchasing of BTC.

So did you go directly for Sportsbook to Coinbase and vica versa? If so, that got you nailed. And if that is the case, even if you sent up account at Gemini make sure to set up intermediary account too so that this does not happen to you again.

gemini.com is very similar, if using ACH bank transfers for funding/withdrawing
bitstamp.com is your next best option if you were using a card to buy.
bitpay.com offer a really good card that you can load with bitcoin and is auto converted to US$. For cashing out at ATMs or buying things. (no depositing)

do they let you withdraw the funds first? I'm guessing yes but what exactly did they tell you?
always use a buffer wallet (blockchain.info) before sending to your coinbase. may even want to consider sending to a blockchain, to an exchange like bittrex, buying ether with it, and then send that to your cb.

When your account is closed you can withdraw USD to a bank account, and you can transfer digital currencies off-site. You are unable to exchange digital currencies for dollars once your account has been closed.
