I think the mayor of Topeka changed the name of the city to Google to let them test their fiber network there and Google is returning him the favor today.

There was a big competition to attract google to set up shop in your town/city/state and I know Topeka was a front runner for this (as well as some city in the FL Keys and Alaska). Don't know what you are referring to though.
