Most people here are degenerate losing gamblers, we all know that.
I would be curious to hear the responses to this scenario.
Let's say that Joe P. Gambler has access to a betting pattern that is successful long term (we'll say 100 units a year or so consistently).. But in betting this pattern, there really is no handicapping, research, or other 'homework' type activities to stimulate (satiate?) him. He simply checks numbers, puts them in a spreadsheet and if the numbers match up, he places a bet. If not, he passes. I know that part of the lure of handicapping/gambling is pining over statistics in minutiae, checking injury reports, inside info, etc.....none of that matters in this scenario. The betting pattern really doesn't even take into account who wins the game most of the time...it simply works on certain events occurring.
To summarize, would the average gambler sacrifice some of the pleasurable nuances of handicapping in order to mindlessly place bets and win over the long term? Weird question, but I'll be interested in the responses.
