It's funny Harden is 1.9 rebounds shy of averaging a triple double - he has the assists covered easy with 11.2 - yet people everywhere are going crazy for what RW is doing. Auto MVP just because of the triple double.

Should be a good series. A truer test of which player is best.

People will remember RW tonight leading the comback and hitting the winner three from near midcourt. They will forget his chasing assists in the 3rd - and getting called out for it by scott hastings on the nuggets broadcast - while his team sunk. If JH chased rebounds like RW chased assists & rebounds these teams would have similar records haha

MVP wont be revealed until June this year. Who's bright idea was that? I will miss watching the league's best out-play the league MVP in the playoffs every year.

The Nuggets announcers can say what they want while they're watching the playoffs from home.

OKC is one of the worst teams in the league without Westbrook. He is single handily making them a playoff team.

With all his late game winners, leading this roster to the playoffs, and his triple doubles....he has to be MVP.

Houston has a much better team than OKC. Harden has way more shooters to dish to.

OKC is about he worst shooting team in the league. Give RW credit.

Keep hearing this. You take Harden off the Rockets and they're the worst team in the league. Nets aren't that bad!

The teams are fairly even talent wise. Rockets have better shooters, of course. Thunder have the physicality with Adams & Kanter. Roberson can't shoot but he's elite defensively -he'd have better numbers if he played for the Rockets.

Westbrook is going to win mvp but that is misleading bc while he's easily the best athlete in the nba and has accomplished a record that is remarkable to say the least he doesn't make his team or teammates better the way harden or lebron do.

He's been head hunting for assists regardless of game score for awhile now. Depends on what one's definition of mvp is but kawhi, lebron, Harden, wall, durant and cp3 all better candidates imo

In the last two weeks Westbrook has had game tying and winning shots at the buzzer against the Mavericks, Magic, and Nuggets.

Talk padding stats all you want but the Thunder are way below .500 without him.

Was he passing stats when he hit the winner against Dallas?

Was he padding stats at the buzzer today?

Just enjoy what he is doing. If he played on the rockets he would average like 18 assists a game. The Thunder can not shoot so it's amazing he even gets 10 a game.

The fact The Kraken has already given the MVP award to Russell Westbrook, tells me this award is still very much up for grabs.

It was about this point in the election process where The Kraken gave Hillary Clinton the presidential nominee.

Let's all just calm down and enjoy the final week of probably the worst regular-season in NBA history.

It's over. Sports are my thing. Congrats to OKC and to Westbrook.

    I predicted this

Whats wrong with "head-hunting" for assists???

Are we at a point now where we criticize players for trying to get assists?

"Sorry Russ, but you cannot be the MVP. You clearly tried to score too much, head-hunted assists and you were ripping rebounds away from the other teams players, all in an effort to win the game and get yourself a triple-double. Now go be a good n1gga and say what the typical white NBA fan wants you to say, and wear what he wants you to wear, and play reserved and under control as white people don't like it when black men show emotion. And vote for Trump, you live in Oklahoma."

LOL I've always been Team Westbrook...guy hasn't given a fukk what people think since day 1 and just competes 100% every game. No fakeness love it or hate it. Some people are uncomfortable with that I guess but I think more people like him now since KD left

Regardless MVP and no one can take that away

No I'd wanna know his shooting pct and turnover to assist ratio, raw numbers mean nothing.

Clean sweep for Harden in the efficiency stats.

It's so close there...How about defense? Harden plays literally zero defense and Westbrook is solid on D

Also..Rockets are a better all around team than the Thunder even though both aren't good without their stars

ESPN Player Efficiency Rating has Westbrook way ahead of everyone in the league this season. Kawhi, Anthony Davis,Durant, Harden, and Lebron are all pretty similar but are way behind Westbrook

Defense is a fair reason for picking RW over JH. Contrived stats are not.

Rockets have a lot of trash on their team. Did you see Gordon & Anderson play for Nawlins last season? Trash. How about Nene for Brazil? Urgh! The talent levels are fairly simlar imo. Rockets have Beverley & Ariza as their 2nd & 3rd best. Thunder have Adams & Oladipo as 2 & 3 best. Rockets slightly better, and 8 games up for it. That's quite a gap.

Oladipo is better than anyone houston has on their roster by far after harden. Any scout or coach could see that a mile away

Westbrook was free $$$ when he wasn't the fav, still is

All he had to do was avg the triple/double and hit 42, and he did

    Case closed

An underrated aspect is hardens assists on way more 3 balls than westbrook. He is the only player in history to have 2000 pts worth of assists. If you think houston has more supporting cast you never watched a game in your life. Not one player on houston could shine adams or oladipos shoes.

But collectively? So you're saying the sum of the Rockets' parts are greater than the whole? Would that be because Harden makes his teammates look good?
