Cagliari's 2-0 loss to Lazio at the Sant'Elia on Sunday has cost the club cash as well as points after president Massimo Cellino decided to give fans a full refund on match tickets for the game.
Cellino had promised fans they would be reimbursed the full ticket price if his side failed to beat Lazio. They did, and the club were forced to hand back the money.
A statement on the club's official website reads:
"Fans can head to Cagliari Point in Viale De La Playa between 09:00 - 13:00 and 16:00 - 20:00 to obtain a full refund by presenting their used tickets. Complimentary and match sponsor tickets are excluded."
Some fans were delighted with the club's generosity. Others would have preferred to see their team win the game, rather than have their money back.
A Rossoblu supporter told Sky Sport Italia: "I am happy with my refund, yes," after leaving the club's official Cagliari Point store in the city.
Antoher said: "I would have preferred to see the team win," adding: "I have not bought a ticket for the Milan match."
The Sardinians take on Milan on April 3 at the Sant'Elia.
