Can the Brewers keep Prince Fielder?
The brewers have fielder on contract thru this year and have him locked up with arbitration through 2012. Ryan Howard, Adrian Gonzalez, and Todd Helton could all be free agents with Fielder. That's the good news. The bad news - Scott Boras is Satan.

Thankfully the Yankees just locked up Teixeira so I want have to watch him go there.

After this year the Brewers will be free of the contracts of Bill Hall (~6mil), Jeff Suppan (~12.5mil), and David Risk(~4.5mil). Collectively those guys are raking 23 mil, which is probably in the vicinity of what Prince will demand.

The locked up Ryan Braun last year in a 7 year, 45 million dollar deal. If we can secure Prince for 5+ years, I'm going to be a happy season ticket holder for many years to come.

eric good to see another season ticket holder here.
don't be so sure that prince wouldn't go to the yankees, a lot of things can change and the al has a dh.

i dont think prince would sign to DH this early in his career. his defense certainly isnt good, but he's worked hard to get it to a respectable level and takes some pride in it. Personally, I think he wants to stay....just not sure if the brewers will have the $$$ to make boras happy. He can sign a 5 year deal and still get paid to DH for the yankees after that. I say 60% chance he stays.

milwaukee doesnt like to spend money and i was surprised they signed braun for such a big contract.im sure they will try to trade him before the deadline and get something cause milwaukee doesnt make the money to pay him.they had there run the other year and blew it so now they will oribably not spend any big money until after the meeting with the unions.

Don't think they can handle such a huge contract with fielder

                                    Not true.

Bud Selig didn't like to spend money. Mark Attanasio hasn't been shy about throwing some money around and it has paid off. First playoff trip in 26 years and record attendance. If there was any time to shell out the cash for the big man it would be now.
