    Question about new OT rule...
ok, i havent done any research on this so bare with me. Please answer all these questions.

From what i understand if the team that wins the coin toss goes down the field and scores a field goal the other team get to try to score a TD to win or a FG to tie? and it keeps on going like a college football game?

What happens if both teams touch the ball and the 3rd possession of overtime results in a FG? does it end there? or does the other team get a 2nd possession to try to score a TD to win or a FG to tie(and then it continues going)?

    • Both teams must have the opportunity to possess the ball once during the extra period, unless the team that receives the opening kickoff scores a touchdown on its initial possession, in which case it is the winner.

    • If the team that possesses the ball first scores a field goal on its initial possession, the other team shall have the opportunity to possess the ball. If [that team] scores a touchdown on its possession, it is the winner. If the score is tied after [both teams have a] possession, the team next scoring by any method shall be the winner.

    • If the score is tied at the end of a 15-minute overtime period, or if [the overtime period's] initial possession has not ended, another overtime period will begin, and play will continue until a score is made, regardless of how many 15-minute periods are necessary.

right, after the first OT period, it goes back to sudden death. They are gonna vote now to make this for regular season also, not just post season. I think that's only right. Don't make exceptions for certain games, make the rules uniform throughout the season.

I personally like the rule, have said the same thing for years. The team who gets the coin flip is most likely gonna win. That shouldn't be the case IMO. If we had this rule Brett Favre would probably be polishing his second Lombardi trophy right now & could retire in peace.
