Pitchers: Ohlendorf, D.J. Carrasco, Brian Bass. Astros:
T.J. Steele, CF

Jason Michaels, LF
Pedro Feliz, 3B
Chris Shelton, 1B
Edwin Maysonet, SS
Humberto Quintero, C
Drew Locke, RF
Felipe Paulino, P

Pirates lineup is pretty much their opening day starting lineup.... don't recognize many of the astro names..... couple former pirates in there, including former rule 5 draft debacle/participant chris shelton.
how is Paulino pitching this spring Willie?

Six innings of 'A' games, four earned, six free passes, four K's and a wild pitch. That means he's having a better spring than Brett Myers, Wandy Rodriguez and Bud Norris
El Caballo (Carlos Lee) and Fat Elvis (Lance Berkman) aren't in the lineup, a good thing for Ohlendorf.
I wouldn't bet this game with The Shrink's money

I have only bet 2 spring training games thus far....but I gotta put money on the pirates starting lineup and best pitcher for 5 innings vs the Astros minor league and 2nd string squad.... also Pirates are fresh after two rare off days and stros have been going everyday for over a week.

yeah that's 2 starters in the entire lineup by my count..... although maybe feliz isn't even the starter, i'm not sure if Blum is the starter or he is. but either way both Kaz and Pedro are like 35ish.... and not huge offensive threats

It looks lopsided, take the Astros. It's fixed. Nice Fat Elvis reference Willie!

Felix is the main guy at third. Blum has been playing 1B a lot this spring with Berkman 'ailing.'

I would've referred to him as 'Old Aches & Pains' but didn't think many people here would have a clue with that great old baseball nickname.

is old aches and pains last name Appling? Lou Appling, or somthing.... my years and years of reading baseball books from age 8-present still make connections like this that i'm not sure where they came from....
I do know there was an Appling baseball player, and I also remember watching him on espn when I was a kid at some old timers game and he hit a real live 315+ foot home run in the game and he must have been 65-75 years old.... he could barely run around the bases.

Yep, Luke Appling. I think he was at least in his mid-70s when he hit that homer, but not sure it was more than 300 feet since that game was played in old RFK in DC where the LF line was VERY close. Hit it off Spahn, I do recall that, one Hall of Famer serving it up to another HOFer.

wow good info Willie, I had no idea where it was played or even where or how far he hit it. I just assumed it was prob a 315 down the line at least....
funny thing is, the guy didn't have much power when he was young even

Actually, those lineups were a bit of a tell. You noted that was the Bucs' likely opening day lineup (at least as far as the position players). So what are they playing for compared to the Houston backups that are still playing for a job?
