Astros Obtain Brian McCann In Trade With Yankees
The New York Yankees have sent catcher/designated hitter Brian McCann to the Houston Astros in exchange for pitching prospects Albert Abreu and Jorge Guzman, the clubs announced Thursday.

The move of McCann from the Yankees to the Astros has been rumored ever since the offseason began and it makes a lot of sense for both sides. The rebuild-on-the-fly Yankees have phenom Gary Sanchez already implemented as their catcher of both the present and future. Carrying a five-year, $85 million catcher to use as DH seemed a waste of resources, so McCann was an obvious candidate to be dealt.

    Good deal for both sides.
Yanks free up some cash perhaps for Chapman.

Abreu, 21, was 3-8 with a 3.72 ERA in 101 2/3 innings pitched in the Astros' minor league system. He finished the year at Lancaster, Houston's high-A team in the California League. Guzman, 20, was 3-4 with a 4.05 ERA in 40 innings with two clubs in the Astros' system. He finished the season at Greenville, Houston's rookie league team in the Appalachian League.

Like the veteran presence in the clubhouse. McCann puts the ball into play more than Castro, who seemed to K 2-3 times a game. Good arms that the Astros let go, but they are far from ready. Astros trying to win now.
