Some people say that the definition of a family is only about chemistry, and other people don't know what they have until they lose it. A family is a complex and a amazing accomplishment in life. In the short story "The Haircut" by Mary Morris shows how greatly people try for one while others take advantage of what they have instead of cherishing it. The character that Morris is writing about has so much passion for one special thing, that is to have her family together. She is waiting for that opportunity to be with the man that she has loved and waited to be with for over five years. The two were separated after they had a daughter together, she then moved to the west coast while he lived on the opposite side of the country. The narrator also tells the reader that she knows all of this guys flaws. One of them being that he refuses to walk into a barber and that a had to cut his hair every time since they were together, prior to them his ex-wife did the same for a innumerable amount of years. Some time has passed since they seen each other , calls made daily and plans were broken on valentine's day to bring the family together. Two months after the plans were broken she arrived at the airport where they were going to meet and glanced at him knowing something was wrong. A family with children is a bond that involves both mother and father to be around, without the parents and a children are greatly affected by a separation throughout their youth. At each age, there are certain feelings and reactions that children will experience; a family is also a bond that depends on one important element of trust and without it that connection will come crashing down with anger and assumptions.
