SAO PAULO, Brazil -- Police say two people were slightly injured in a soccer riot that erupted in central Brazil when fans of the losing home team hurled a homemade bomb into the visitors' dressing room.
A spokeswoman for the Senador Canedo police force says the incident occurred Monday night after players of the Canedense and Vila Nova teams clashed on the field at the end of the game. Angry fans then invaded the playing field and joined the melee.
The spokesman says the bomb injured "at least one player of the visiting team," adding that a city councilman was also hurt.
The spokeswoman, who declined to be identified in line with departmental regulations, provided no further details.
