#4Don't think that's right about the sales tax. The only possible explanation I can imagine other than the cultlike mentality of eBay addicts would be if the card is a gift and the pathetic loser is too lazy to drI've their fatass to walmart to buy it.Comment -

#6The reason is because people have cash back deals. They get 10% sometimes more back on ebay purchases.
People on the silver/Gold forums do it, sometimes they buy an ounce of Gold for $1100 and get 20% back, $220 back.Comment -

Walmart Gift Card with $500.00 Value.
Buy for less with possible cash back.
No Expiration Date.
You can get up to 14% cashback on all eBay (Buy It Now) purchases. Here is the detail:
INSTRUCTIONS:
1 - Click on BING SEARCH and create an account. After creating an account then login and search for gift card. Get 8% cash back using this site.
2 - Select the banner on top where it shows the ad for Ebay
3 - Make sure when the Ebay window opens that you see the Cash Back on the top of the page
4 - Then go to MrRebates.com and sign up. Also get $5 sign up bonus!!!
5 - Once you signed up and logged into your MrRebates.com account, search for Ebay. Notice it will state its 3% Cash Back and click on it
6 - On the eBay page, make sure the Microsoft Cashback logo is still on the top of the page
7 - Search the Item you want to purchase on eBay. NOTE: The Item must have a BUY IT NOW option. Auction style listings do not give cash back.
8 - When you check out, make sure you still see the Microsoft Cashback logo and it will state how much you will get back.
9 - If you have eBay Bucks promotion available in your eBay Account you can save another 2% cash back. Get an additional 1% cash back on all major credit cards.
Total Savings = 42.8 + 16 + 10.7 + 5.3 = $75.00

I don't know the answer, but I've been curious about this for a while too. I thinking I could get a nice discount on an Amazon gift card, and found out the went for above face value, surprised the hell outta me.Comment -

#14Cash Back from (Bing ) has nothing to do with the gift card situation it is meant to drive search traffic in order to compete with Google.Comment -

#15Of course it does, they arent really paying $53 for the $50 gift card. They get 14% back means they are paying $45 for it.
It has to be a buy it now and person selling the card puts up a buy it now for more knowing someone will pay the extra since they are getting 14% back.
Why else would they pay the $53 when they can go to walmart and buy a $50 card for $50.Comment -

#16If it has nothing to do with it, why did the guy in that auction provide all the detail in his auction description.
His auction says nothing much about the gift card, just explains in total detail how to sign up for and qualify for the 14% rebate.Comment -

#21Thanks Bigboyfosho. I post on a coin forum also, and this cash back stuff is like one of the biggest topics on there. I guess some of them buy coins on ebay, get the 14% cash back then sell the coins and make a nice profit.Comment
