    It is a joke when you see a #4 seed -4 and then a 5 seed -12.

It is unfair to one or both of the teams when you have stuff like a #13 +4, #15 +6, and #16 +9

But you can't just look at what lines would be because that would punish overachieving teams like Pittsburgh, and reward underachievers like Texas. At the same time though it is a joke that spreads can vary like 14 points on the same seed line.

They don't let Vegas rank the teams so they won't let them seed....the corruption would be insane. It would be 10x more that it is now....horrid idea.

They need some more neutral parties at least. Seems like these guys that sit around at the selection committee meetings all weekend have agendas. And they also get too drunk.

YES. They should let bookmakers make selections as well. Then it would actually be the BEST teams, and therefore much more interesting.

I think for like 95% of the teams it would work better, but also you have to have some type of way to punish and reward the under and over achievers.

Purdue is only -4 because they lost their best player.

They still deserve the #4 seed because they had such a great year and were ranked top 5 for a while. It wouldnt be fair to drop their seed to like #9 just because they lost their best player. They deserve #4 based on how they played during the year. However when Vegas makes the lines, they have to take into consideration that Hummell is gone.

The seeding represent how the team played throughout the year. the line takes only this game into account.

I thought about this both this year and last year. The seedings would more accurately reflect which teams deserve them, that's for sure.

But the committee takes into account what matchups it wants and non-basketball stuff.

This matchup is not horrible, actually had the Vandy Murray St. game in mind both teams seeds are off. Purdue and Siena I actually feel are seeded about right just that Purdue is underrated and Siena overrated

No. Teams should be rewarded on the basis of wins and losses if we want to encourage sportsmanship and fairness. The line is far too much a factor of margin to use it.
