Lemon Laws or What Could I Do, If Anything
Ok, my wife leased a 2007 Grand Cheroke Laredo. Every now and then, maybe twice a year, you could stop, then when you are about to go again all the gears have a box around them on the dash. Normally D (drive would) if I'm in that gear. When you excellerate, nothing happens like if you are in nuetral and stepping on the gas. You actually have to stop the car and turn it off, restart it for it work work normally. It was taken in twice and they said they didn't know what it is. The third time they said it was the shifter module and they replaced it about 6 months ago. Ok, the lease was up and I bought the lease out 2 weeks ago. Last week the same thing happened. Ok we had to get another shifter module for $900 since the warranty expired, only 40k miles on the car. Today, my wife is reversing, the same thing happened. This is days after the 3rd shifter module was put it.

Does anyone know what I could do legally? The shifter module is under warranty now, but f that. There is something wrong and it is not safe. Tomorrow Chrysler and dealership are not going to have a good day. I can bet my life on that.

this was a mistake, as I'm sure you know.

each state's lemon laws vary to a great extent.

yes, you need to take it out on the dealership.

in selling you the vehicle, they may have violated what is called the implied warranty of merchantability-look it up, throw that term around, threaten legal action, and maybe even talk to a local atty, if he will listen to you for free.

Sue the owner. The court rules in favor of the consumer most of the time. I know a guy who auctioned his used car off on EBAY and in the ad he stated "as is" and the guy sued him and won. Worth a shot if the legals fees dont make it unprofitable.

I appreciate the feedback. I live in PA. I am 100% not interested in repairs now at this point. There is something wrong and it hasn't been fixed. I knew this would happen again and wanted it to happen. Because it was just fixed on Thursday, this couldn't have happened at a better time.

I'm reading up on some things and it looks promising. Also, when the car was purchased it was under my wife's name only at the time. We were married.
When I just bought it, it is my name only. They never inspected the car or anything prior to selling it to me.

F U Chrysler! Really I am highly happy that this happened 4 days after it was just fixed for the second time. My wife asked for service print outs last week and shows the complaints 2 other times early on. The jeep is unsafe and isn't being fixed since it keeps happening every now and then.

I have a friend that had a 4X4 Nissan truck that was used for work only, pulling alot of heavy equipment. The transmission went out 4 times, each time it was replaced as warranty work. After the 4th time he had a lawyer file the paper work for the lemon law. Eventually it worked out for him, but it takes time and patience. As with anything involving a large company you will need to hire a lawyer for good results, JMO. This was in FL.

Yeah, I don't think this will be quick. There is nothing that could make this better as far as repairs. I will demand it be fixed again and let them know it is now a legal matter. They have to fix it. Once I get legal representation, they will take it from there.

                1800-lemonlaw

I spoke with these people today and explained everything. A lawyer reviewed what I said and they are taking it (the case). No costs involved since they collect from Chrysler. Today the dealership told me it isn't the shifter module, rather a smaller related shifting module. They fixed it for free. No worries as I am done with this jeep and will be compensated. The sad thing is I loved jeep grand cherokees and this was my 3rd.
