Sprint's network is the fastest. I don't care what phone you have you want a fast network. I have an HTC Touch Pro and I tether it's internet connection via bluetooth to a Netbook (10.1 inch screen). All of these phones are too small to do anywork but the netbook is the bomb. Tethered to the Sprint network I have internet access everywhere. By the pool, at the beach, in an airport, etc.

Placing bets on a phone is too much squinting with a small screen (even the Iphone). Placing it on a laptop is the best and the netbooks can fit in a purse or a backpack. Plus I have a slingbox where I can watch my TV in the house on the phone or netbook crystal clear and can change channels. I can also log into espn360 and watch all the ncaa games in HD on the netbook. Can't do that on your phone.

Wow. You must be fun on a road trip. I'd be the guy sitting next to you squinting at my blackberry.

To the OP: My Curve 8900 is adequate at best. The standard browser won't work and you'll have to use Opera or Bolt. Bolt seems to work better for me... If I were to do it again, I would go with something else but couldn't beat the price on the Curve - Free.

Nexus One, Palm Pre, Droid are all better for browsing than the Iphone. Nexus One is basically a small computer in your pocket with it's 1ghz processor. The Pre and Droid both feature a physical keyboard as well as a virtual one so those are good too.

^^^With the Netbooks, not only can you place your bet's, you can also watch the games w/o squinting.

You really can't beat free and that's a better option. Get a free phone with a fast network and use the money saved on a netbook. Tether your phone to the netbook so you never lose internet connection if you don't have access to wifi.

What's nerdy about using a bigger screen??? For me, I'd rather have a 10 inch screen than a 4 inch screen and a 17 inch is too big.

Also, this generation of Iphone will never have Flash so you won't be able to watch the games that you bet on.

You can carry a netbook as easy as you carry your phone. It's just a little bigger. It just does more than the phones. If you want to watch a movie or a game, you can't go wrong. If you have to go to some event because your GF forced you, you can pull out the netbook and not miss a beat.

I've watched split screen games going on my netbook. You can't do that with your phone.

I can just take my phone out if I want but you can't beat a netbook if you wan't something to do it all. I need a bigger screen than a phone. I can't stand trying to post to a forum using a phone. It's not worth the trouble. But that's just me.

what do you think about the iPad? I was gonna buy it for that reason. Carry it around for watching games instead of my Macbook? But I have not made a decision yet

Another plus with a netbook is the battery life. I get 8 hours which is better than my phone. I didn't mean to turn this into a phone versus netbook discussion but it's definitely something to consider for some.

The Ipad is the shit. I've already pre-ordered one. It's easy to use and will do everything we want (watch movies and sports, post to forums and bet online)

The only downside is that it's a little more expensive then the other books out there and I'm a little concerned about the durability. I have an Acer netbook and I've beet it to death and zero scratches and since you can close the lid it protects the screen. I also added a touchscreen so I can navigate all by touch.

Once you go up to a 10 inch screen you really can't go back to the small phone screens.
