130-year-old woman wants Guinness Record
woman from the Eurasian country of Georgia claims she is the world's oldest person, born in 1880.
The current title holder is a 114-year old woman living in Japan.
Antisa Khvichava, who lives in a remote mountain village in the Tsalenjikhi region, will be turning 130 on her July 8th birthday this year.
"Antisa Khvichava was born in the 19th century, and she is amazing," said Giorgi Vashadze, head of Georgia's Civil Registry Agency. "We have the necessary documents to prove it."
The Georgian authorities have Mrs Khvichava's Soviet-era passport registration, showing her date of birth, and her pension book that was issued in the 1960s. With this proof they have have petitioned the Guinness Book of Records to give her title as the world's oldest person. The matriarch is reportedly in good health, still playing backgammon and enjoying vodka. She was recently seen on television celebrating International Women's Day with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, while drinking a glass of wine.
