James Patrick Bulger (born 16 March 1990[1]), a two-year-old child from Kirkby, Merseyside, England, was abducted, tortured, and murdered in 1993. The perpetrators were two 10-year-old boys, Jon Venables, (born 13 August 1982) and Robert Thompson (born 23 August 1982). Bulger disappeared on 12 February 1993 from the New Strand Shopping Centre, Bootle, while accompanying his mother, and his mutilated body was found on a railway line in nearby Walton on 14 February. Thompson and Venables were charged on 20 February 1993 with the abduction and murder.

The release of the image came as it was revealed that Venables will be charged with a criminal offence and faces the prospect of a court case over the possession of child pornography.

I had never heard of this story before so I read the entire thing....the whole thing is pretty odd. I know it is tough to accurately sentence and maybe he was punished justly but it seems like the biggest disservice is that they allowed this guy to have his name changed and basically start a new life. Obviously the guy is having trouble coping with being part of normal society now.

It will be interesting to see what comes about in this new trial with the the child porn charges. I think this will say a lot about him as a person and if he truly was rehabilitated from his team away before.

That is unfathomable to me that they spent that much giving him a new identity....and not only that but it sounds like they are going to great lengths to keep it a secret as well.
