I like Fla for about 3 weeks out of he year. I'm sure it would be fine to live there once you got adjusted. I would just get tired of 100+ degree days in the summer & the storms. And if anyone ever mentions going back to Disneyworld I'll cut 'em!

Weather is fantastic; if you're an outdoors person (golf, fishing, running/walking/biking), you can do it 350 days a year. No state income tax. However, hurricanes suck; pick your location wisely.

The weather is far, far from fantastic.

It rains almost every single day in the summer, and the humidity is borderline horrible...............VEGAS weather is way, way better then it is in Florida........WAY BETTER!!!

                          The FOOD here absolutely sucks!!!

The place is crowded and full of arrogant people!

Depends are where you go. High unemployment due to construction hospitality collapse.

If you have 1/2 a brain you could run circles around the yocals here. Too many trial lawyers. Housing is real cheap now in fact name your price and it's yours. High crime.

A man by himself is in bad company. - Eric Hoffer

I love living in Florida. The weather, low cost of living, and no state income tax is one hell of a start. I hear a lot of the food sucks but that hasn't been my experience. Maybe I'm not snobby enough in this area but waving to the fiishermen as they bring my meal out of the water is fresh enough for me. I'm more than happy with the food in this area.

In the end it's rarely the location. I've been everywhere from Geneva Alabama to Pocatello Idaho and always kept a smile on my face. Been rich, poor, single, divorced and married, always find plenty to enjoy about living in a new area. In the end happy people are happy, sad people are sad, the location is just another variable for people to find the mindframe they've come to accept.

I used to live in North Florida - on the East cost which I liked a lot. Hurricanes do not directly hit North Florida and the weather is not as humid. On the bad side the job market in North Florida (Jacksonvile/Daytona) is not very good as this point. Home prices are cheap and no state income tax. North Florida is less of a party place and more like a better place to raise a family. So it depends what you are looking for.

Very well put. Each person will make of the situation what they can...
As far as your particular situation, "moving to Florida" is way too broad of a statement for us to give you any advice. I can advise you on what parts of Florida might be most suited for your situation. I can give you a general description of the various parts of Florida.
I moved to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area from Ohio and it took a lot of adjusting. But if you were to move to Naples/Bonita Springs area, you would find a ton of Midwestern transplants. If you are serious in your search, I am sure that I could help point you in the right direction. Just send me a PM.

Yeah if I come to FLA, it would be north Florida in the Jacksonville area. I hate cold winters here in Ohio, and can handle the hot humid summers as it is very humid in Ohio also. Not much of a big partier, so the clubscene is not really me.

Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming. Seems like the apartments I have looked at are alot cheaper than the ones here in Ohio.

Ive always wanted to live in FLA, my whole life for I like the weather year round (even if it is in the 40s in the winter at times). Also like the beach and palm trees. Tampa/St. Pete is where i ultimately want to hold down a career and reside, but North Florida will due since Ill be finishing up college in the next year or so.

Love Florida, but Tampa might be one of the dirtiest most worthless cities we have (sans the Casino and the Bucs). Live somewhere within an hour or two from there and drive for any of the few things you might want to visit that city for.

Thats the perfect area. Jacksonville Beach is a nice town. It is not like Miami or anything but there is pretty good night life. An awesome sports bar (Sneakers) and a real nice beach. I really like it there. It a good singles area.

It rains almost every single day in the summer, and the humidity is borderline horrible...............VEGAS weather is way, way better then it is in Florida........WAY BETTER!!!

In closing, not a bad place to live, but certainly far better places to live in this great country.
I'll take afternoon rain for three months. I love Vegas, but not when it's 115 degrees.

And I don't own a scraper for the car; enough said.

lived in Miami my whole life.. went to school at University of Michigan so I am not a midwestern boy living in florida.. but i am a florida boy that lived in the midwest..

i love Miami and always will.. but last year i visited the bay area and fell in love really quick and moved out to San jose ...

One thing about Florida is if you want to experience any type of seasonal change you will have to live in the northern most parts of the state..

Miami is basically northern Havana.. all night clubs and great hotels and places to eat.. the women are amazing but are all looking for $$$ in the end.. so you better be able to hang with the big boys ...

City has horrible traffic and has probably one of the most corrupt governments next to NJ and ILL..

If you digg latin culture then Tampa or Miami are for you...

If you want to be close to the southern part , but don't really want to be around a lot of cubans (i am cuban).. then u can move to Ft. Lauderdale. a great city to own a boat in...

If that doesn't tickle your fancy you can move further up north and it will be more like being in the South..all of Florida with the exception of Miami and parts of Tampa is pretty much the South and people come off as Southern for whatever it's worth...

its a great state.. but not the best place to live .. just like Fishhead said.. However Florida does have the best beaches in the United States .. Hands Down..
