Wow, things have definitely changed within the last year. I remember depositing $1100 into Mansion to take them up on their free bet. I remember we were all wondering if it was a scam but they ended up paying. Haven't heard much from them lately. Just shows you how good life was until the government decided to get involved.

I remember that. I also remember people thinking it was a scam and missing out on a free $1100 bet. I also remember the same people thinking Neteller was a scam.

yeah, I remember that promo...was the promo that led to the ultimate downfall of mansion (which I correctly called even though some dipshits tried to argue it)...

As great as that promo was, it didn't compare to Mansion Exchange's behavior from around May to mid-June 2005.

Every day at the same time (~11:30 a.m. as I recall) they would seed the baseball markets with huge off-market numbers. The lines weren't just a bit off; they would create huge arbs all over the place on every game. Sharp players would be sitting at their computer waiting every day and just unloading.

It was not unusual to see a $50 arb and think, 'I'll keep looking; there's bound to be a few better than that.' It was like BOOM - $120 - BOOM $75 - BOOM $80 - BOOM - $275 - BOOM - $40. You'd just make play after play until you were all-in at every account you had.

(On top of that, they had free Neteller withdrawals. Mansion was still fairly new so if you were nervous about them you could withdraw your cash to Neteller at the end of every day and re-deposit the next morning.)

It was madness. It lasted for about 6 weeks - and the other sportsbooks started to clue in and adjust somewhat after a bit - but it was worth a hell of a lot more than a $1000 freeplay to a lot of on-the-ball players.
